Theater aan het Spui will be transformed into festival central, Casa Fiesta! Drop in, create art from everyday items, and let yourself be surprised. You won’t have a dull moment here!

Restvorm (ages 2 - 12)

The artists of Restvorm are creating a fantastical recycled world, where you can join free workshops all week long. A fiesta isn’t complete without garlands, and we’ll make them together. Do you have any old fabric scraps? Bring them along and create a long Mexican garland. Everyone can participate, and the result will be hung up immediately. The garland will keep growing and getting longer. During the masked party, we’ll dance together among the garlands.

In addition to making garlands, you can also make flowers from waste materials for the wobble trees in Casa Fiesta! Wobble trees can move and even walk a little. We’ll decorate the trees and create our own forest inside De Betovering.

La Cruz & Helweg: Zuchtbakje (All ages)
A sigh brings relief to a heart full of sorrow. Everyone has a good reason to sigh sometimes. The Zuchtbakje is a place to leave your sigh behind. Relief, yearning, and sighing. The Zuchtbakje welcomes your sigh and sends it off into the universe for you.
But there’s a catch... The Zuchtbakje also asks you to answer a magical question by writing it down on a card and posting it in the Zuchtbakje.

De Betovering collects all these sighs of longing to reflect on the 25th edition of the festival, consider its history, and especially look toward future festivals with an open mind.

Lotte Verweij: Mask Makers (ages 2 - 12)

When wearing a mask, you don’t have to be yourself for a while. You suddenly look different! And maybe you’ll even move differently when hiding behind a mask! Inspired by the masks and colors of Día de Muertos, the children will create their own masks on black cardboard. You get to choose the shapes and colors of the mask!

Dak Kindercentra: Photobooth (ages 2 - 12)

We’ll get to work making our own props for the Casa Fiesta photobooth! Props are different items you can use to create fun or silly photos.

Casa Fiesta closes each day at 16:00 with live music by De Wijkmuzikanten and the Royal Conservatory.

Closing Party: Saturday, Nov 2, at 17:00
We’ll wrap up the festival in style with the percussion group La Maquina and a real masked ball.
